Originally formulated to perform in a wide firing range, 05 – 6, Speedball’s Underglazes have been successfully fired at Cone 10. Suitable for use on greenware or bisque, each color produces a softer, velvety finish when left unglazed, and intensifies in richness when covered with a clear glaze.

Ideal for detailed painting, sgraffito decoration, watercolor effects, free brush painting, screen printing and mashima decoration, the opaque underglazes are designed to perform in a wide firing range, Cone 05 – 6, and have been successfully fired to Cone 10.
Create Depth & Character
Speedball Underglazes can be used to create designs and patterns that will come through the glaze covering them, allowing for more visual depth and character. Although they are often used under clear glazes, they can also be used under other, generally light-colored, transparent glazes.
In the Studio
Speedball Underglazes can be applied to greenware and bisqueware. Colors will not move or flow during firing. For best results, apply 3 liberal coats and use with Speedball Earthenware or Stoneware Clear Glaze.
